Yes we're drowning in a world of words, but some words lift us up. The invitation is to be discerning to which words we give our attention to. We live in world of paradox, as Brene Brown writes in her book, 'Strong Ground'. How do you feel after reading a poem, compared to reading the newspaper? We cannot deny that poetry nourishes us emotionally, psychologically, intellectually, spiritually. It speaks to those parts of experience that have become all but invisible in our world. This poem is a beautiful invitation and reminder us to listen. Listen not just with ears, but with heart, skin, hands. Like a maunga. and when you do, what do you notice?
